2010 Already Successful for Travis

A few minutes after midnight as we entered into 2010 (east coast time), Travis Pastrana jumped his Subaru Rally Car 269 feet, crushing the previous record of 171 feet set by Ken Block in 2006. Add extra style points for doing it under the first blue moon in 19 years and in front a live television audience. Travis landed on a floating barge 200 feet off the Long Beach pier, slid into the tire wall and jumped out of the car to celebrate the only way Travis knows ... full throttle. He jumped (actually did a backflip) off of the tallest part of the landing ramp into the chilly water below.
I hope, for all of us, that 2010 is as successful as Travis's first 10 minutes of 2010 were.  Happy New Year!

I didn't know who Travis was untill I read your blog. After looking him up and finding that he was my friends sons favorite, I found out about the jump and we had it on tv. The ladies all got put out into the other room so they could watch the ball drop, since we wouldn't change the channel. It seemed too good to be true and looked like he could have pushed it even further. Truly amazing and we had a great time watching thanks to your blog turning me on to the Travis phenomonom.

First, my boys insist we watch this jump. The girls want to see the ball drop on FoxNews. Funny conflict. But we manage... We did see the jump. ;D

Second, Terry, did you re-do the header w/the DSL? Looks cool.

Finally, Blue Moon was awesome here w/lots of fireworks from neighborhood. Like daylight outside. Happy New Year, Terry.

Kelly, glad you could work around the jump and ball drop. lol

I did the header myself, use to work in the art room of a print house.

The blue moon was amazing, like you said, it was almost like daylight at night.
